Situation
The R&D and Business Development groups of a major pharmaceutical company were not aligned in their approach to opportunity assessment and valuation. The result was an unbalanced product segment pipeline portfolio which left them vulnerable in several of their therapeutic areas and over invested in others

Actions
We created a pipeline management strategy and methodology which enabled the company to better assess internally derived targets and compounds at every development stage and to objectively target and assess external opportunities.
This allowed the company to determine when and where investments are appropriate for new indications, specific targets or methods of action, e.g. where to focus their in and out licensing and R&D resources.

Results
This unique approach led to the creation of, as described by a leading trade journal, the most robust product pipelines in their critical therapeutic areas within the pharmaceutical industry.
